I am a landscape ecologist in the Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences in the Faculty of Forestry of the University of British Columbia. My research interests include spatial patterns of biodiversity, land-use change, and the legacies of agricultural land use. As an instructor at UBC since 2016, my focus is on teaching. My pedagogical interests are evidence-based teaching practices, particularly those developed in cognitive science. I teach undergraduate forestry students at UBC as well as at the UBC Faculty of Forestry’s partner universities in China. Prior to my arrival in Vancouver, I was a GIS Teaching Fellow in the Geography Department of Middlebury College. I am a native Wisconsinite and received my Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012.
